Mark has over 24 years' experience in PR and marcoms, initially in-house and then consultancy spanning business-to-business, consumer and corporate communications. He joined independent agency Firefly as a start-up in the late 80s and has led successful PR campaigns for blue chip clients including Accenture, Apple, Cisco, Compaq, IBM, Motorola, Oracle and Sony. In the 90s he founded Firefly's consumer business and launched BBC News Online and Lastminute.com, in addition to campaigns for online banks, drinks and venture capital companies.
Thanks to an efficient back office team he spends over half his time on client-facing work, particularly strategic communications planning, messaging, crisis & issues management, online PR and coaching. Currently working with brands like Konica Minolta, MTV and Virgin, and helping several early stage clients to prepare for market launches, he is also responsible for Firefly's overall business development, international offices and partnerships.
Mark started his career in-house at digital video technology company Quantel and its then parent group UEI plc. From there he moved to consumer PR agency Biss Lancester working in whisky and wallcoverings, before spending three years with agency Countrywide Porter Novelli on corporate and technology clients.
He has national and international level experience, is a CIPR and IPRA member and sits on the PRCA Best Practice Committee. He speaks regularly about best practice and innovation in PR, online and brand communications, most recently on a British Government trade mission to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.
